Well for the second (first?) time I am attempting to make my truck a Manuel. Last year’s attempt at getting this done failed. All I got done last year was replaced the broken brake line that caused me to stop driving the truck in the first place along with replacing a bunch of other stuff that broke while trying to replace the brake line. Still have air in the brake system (ABS unit) but don’t care, f ull steam ahead! I hoped I would at least be able to get the manual transmission bolted in this weekend and just have to deal with the transfer case but didn’t make it. I was able to get the automatic pulled out and start modifying the cab to make it Manuel. R ust fought me the whole way. Stupid midwest. Now will have to wait until I get free time again to continue.
The victim.
This is more failed V8 S10 parts. I do need the transfer case though because the NV3500 has a 32 spline count output shaft and so does a 4L80. 4L60 only has 28 splines
This was in the way. Frustrating too because I replace all the studs and nuts a few years ago because of leaky exhaust donuts.
Also in the way.
Some progress. I will be swapping internal parts between the two transfer cases.
SUCCESS!!! One kinda broken 4L60 removed.
Surgery prep.
Operation complete.

Yay! Swap....though, is the rust not as bad as it looks, because that cab corner on the rear-right looks pretty bad...?

Yeah, the rust isn’t great but it’s the only truck I got. I don’t like borrowing my work's truck because it’s such a hassle. The frame is solid, cab not so great.

Being the unknown recipient of a swap makes life more interesting. My BMW E28 is a swap, though I didn’t inspect closely enough before purchasing to know that fact.
Now I have a leaking clutch slave cylinder, so I have to search for parts by the car the transmission came from instead of mine to make sure I get the right part.
This one is easy, as BMW used the same slave cylinder for many years. But I’m positive I’ll have a part in the future I think should fit, but it won’t.
Fun!

I know that feeling. I had a 1989 Honda Civic that had a 1992 Acura Integra B18A1 swap. Finding out what part came from which car was fun on the suspension.

1990 CRX with JDM Civic SiR front suspension and engine swap. Nothing made sense.

All the feels. I understand your pain.
